Experiences & Student Involvement

A small overview of my experiences and involvement at MSU Texas 2025-2026. During this time, I engaged deeply in various academic and extracurricular activities that enriched my educational journey. From joining student organizations that aligned with my interests to participating in community service projects, each experience played a pivotal role in shaping my personal and professional growth. I collaborated with fellow students on innovative projects, attended workshops that enhanced my skills, and formed lasting friendships along the way.

Business Director – Mustangs Motorsports (Formula SAE)

Serving as Business Director for the Mustangs Motorsports Formula SAE team has been one of the most influential experiences in my academic and professional development. In this role, I managed sponsorship development, financial planning, and operational coordination for a multidisciplinary engineering team.

I strengthened partnerships with existing sponsors and secured three new donors, generating $7,000 in sponsorships during my first semester. To support the team’s operational needs, I created detailed budgets, conducted cost analyses, and ensured alignment between financial strategy and engineering requirements. I also managed communication with local businesses, university offices, and corporate sponsors to maintain transparency and accountability in how funds were allocated.

This experience significantly improved my analytical thinking, financial decision-making, and project management abilities. I learned how to design financial strategies under budget constraints, communicate value propositions to external partners, and coordinate timelines across engineering, procurement, and business functions. Documenting expenses, building financial models, and preparing sponsor reports helped me understand how finance supports real technical projects—skills directly aligned with my career path in corporate finance or financial analysis.

Working with a diverse group of engineering students also strengthened my leadership style. I learned how to run structured meetings, set measurable goals, and support team members with different working styles and responsibilities. These interactions helped me grow into a more organized, reliable, and solution-oriented leader.

How I Plan to Extend This Experience

Looking forward, I aim to expand my responsibilities by:

  • Developing more advanced financial reporting systems for the team using dashboards and data visualization

  • Increasing sponsorship outreach to national companies with stronger alignment to engineering, automotive, and manufacturing sectors

  • Applying financial forecasting techniques learned in my coursework to improve long-term budget planning

  • Mentoring new business team members to build a stronger, more sustainable business division within the organization

  • Connecting this experience to my future goals by pursuing roles in FP&A, corporate finance, or commercial credit analysis where budgeting, forecasting, and stakeholder communication are core responsibilities

This leadership role has given me a strong foundation in financial strategy, team coordination, and organizational communication, and I plan to continue building on these skills as I prepare for advanced coursework, internships, and long-term career goals.

Orientation Leader – Summer 2025

Serving as an Orientation Leader during Summer 2025 was one of the most meaningful opportunities I had to develop my communication, leadership, and student-support skills. In this role, I guided incoming students and their families through the transition to university life by providing accurate information, delivering structured presentations, and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

I led group sessions covering academic resources, campus expectations, time management strategies, and student wellness. These presentations helped new students understand not only how to navigate their first semester, but also how to build healthy routines and seek support when necessary. I also facilitated small-group activities to encourage peer connections and to help students feel comfortable engaging with their new community.

A key part of my contribution was my role as a bilingual communicator. I provided English-to-Spanish translation for nearly a dozen families each session, ensuring parents and students fully understood financial processes, housing policies, university deadlines, and academic requirements. This allowed Spanish-speaking families to participate confidently and to feel supported throughout the orientation experience.

Through this position, I strengthened my public speaking, active listening, and problem-solving skills. I learned how to respond calmly to parent concerns, guide students through uncertainty, and address complex questions in real time. Working in a fast-paced environment taught me how to communicate clearly across different audiences while maintaining professionalism and empathy.

How I Plan to Extend This Experience

Moving forward, I hope to apply the lessons learned from orientation to both my academic path and my career goals by:

  • Continuing to build communication and leadership skills through mentorship and peer-support roles
